Sometimes, for me, the smallest thing can make a song come alive or make it great. Not always something technically good or accurate, normally it’s the opposite of that, it’s just a little snippet of sound that (in my interpretation) almost presents itself as to how involved the artist is in the song. If that makes sense. For example, if you listen to a Libertines song and you hear Pete Doherty scream something in the background, if you didn’t know what they were like as a band, that scream would show you that the man feels his song, he’s involved with it. I risk sounding like a douche saying all this, but it is the smallest things that make songs for me.
